Free Admission to Star Trek 50th anniversary at Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum from 7 pm to 11pm on September 9 in 2016

Join us from 7:00-11:00 pm for an evening celebrating all things Star Trek in honor of the show’s 50th anniversary!

Starship Enterprise
Visit the Enterprise in its new home in the Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall.

Costume Contest
Participate in a Star Trek costume contest. Details about the costume contest can be found below and in the Official Rules.

Participation: Beginning at 7:00 pm, the first 100 people 18 years of age and older to register at the Museum’s welcome desk will be entered into the costume contest.

Categories: Best in Show, Best Original Series Replica, Best Non-Original Series Replica, and Most Creative.

Prizes: The winner of Best in Show will receive a 50th Anniversary IDIC prop replica necklace, a Star Trek 50th Anniversary Bundle, and a Star Trek mini metal model (fair market value of under $400). The winners of the other three categories will receive a Star Trek 50th Anniversary Bundle and a Star Trek mini metal model (fair market value of under $200). Judges: Rod Roddenberry, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and co-founder and chairman of the Roddenberry Foundation; John and Bjo Trimble, two of Star Trek’s founding fans; Josh Bernstein, international explorer, educator, and television host; Sam Witwer, an American actor who has appeared in numerous science fiction films, including Star Trek and Star Wars; and Jeannie Whited, museum specialist at the National Air and Space Museum.

Special Presentations in Moving Beyond Earth
Special guests, including Rod Roddenberry, son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, share the impact of Star Trek on their lives.

New Star Trek Documentaries
Free tickets are required for these screenings. Both screenings are now in standby. Standby tickets can be reserved below.

Building Star Trek, 8:00 pm
For the Love of Spock, 9:15 pm.

This event is free. Tickets are required only for documentary screenings. No tickets or advance registration are required for Museum entry. The Museum will be open to the general public from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

This event is part of the Museum’s celebration of Star Trek’s 50th anniversary, including a screening of the first Star Trek episode on September 8 and a 21-and-over program on September 10.
