The 2017 World Bonsai Day festival will feature demonstrations, workshops for beginners, curator-led tours and bonsai vendors. The free event is sponsored by the U.S. National Arboretum, National Bonsai Foundation and Potomac Bonsai Association.
The festival also will include a juried exhibition of Potomac Bonsai Association trees and a display on the late Saburo Kato, a key figure in the modern history of bonsai. Kato believed that bonsai has the power to unite people by acting as a bridge to international friendship and peace. In addition, local authors Stephen Voss, Ann McClellan and Sandra Moore will be on hand to sign and sell copies of their books about the Museum’s bonsai.
