DC Water Hosting Residents for Ward Meetings on Rates & Services

Apr 1, 2018

March 27, 2018
DC Water will meet with District residents in all eight wards starting this week as part of an effort to hear from customers about rates and services.

Interim General Manager Henderson Brown IV will discuss how rates are set and how the Authority sets a budget for the coming year. Brown will also give an overview of many DC Water projects, including the Clean Rivers initiative, which grew out of a federal consent decree but which will result in cleaner waterways for District residents and visitors.

“These meetings are the single best way we can connect with many customers in person and learn about what matters to them,” Brown said. “I grew up in Wards 6 and 7, and I know that the viewpoints we hear there may be very different from what we hear in Ward 8 or Ward 1. We’re looking forward to greeting residents and learning about ways we can do things better.”

These town hall meetings are part of a bi-annual process tied to the setting of rates for water and sewer services and are held in each ward to maximize convenience for residents. Customers will be able to get updates on specific construction projects and improvements, plus news about their accounts and many features offered by DC Water, such as high usage alerts and a new app that simplifies payment.

Each town hall will be held from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The full list of meeting locations and dates follows:
