The 18th annual commemoration of Vietnam Human Rights Day (VNHRD) will be held May 9, 2013 and will mark the passing in 1994 of the joint House and Senate resolution S.J. Res. 168. The event is free and open to the public and will also serve as a time and place for Congressional leaders, community members, and human rights advocates to discuss and work toward restoring human rights in Vietnam. In order to make this event a success, the organizing committee is recruiting college students and young professionals to the VNHRD 2013 team.
VNHRD 2013 team members will be flown into DC on a funded trip to work with the DC-Maryland-Virginia Vietnamese community, students, and young professionals. The team will develop and implement public outreach strategies, network with Congressional leaders and human rights activists, and carry out the day-of execution of programming and logistics. The VNHRD 2013 team will also have the opportunity to be highlighted on the renowned Saigon Broadcasting Television Network (SBTN). The dates the team will need to be in DC are from Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10.
Please apply and share this opportunity with those who would be interested in contributing to this event. Applications close April 12 and can be filled out at http://tinyurl.com/vnhrdapp2013.
