On Jan. 19, the National Press Club will be the venue for a private, client-paid inaugural ball for supporters of President-elect Donald Trump – as we have for incoming presidents of both parties for decades. Inaugural parties are being held at scores of venues in the Washington region as is generally the custom.
This is not an event sponsored or endorsed by the National Press Club.
Every president since William McKinley has automatically upon inauguration become a member of the National Press Club. This is part of our history. America’s incoming president now joins Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and others in becoming an honorary member of the Press Club. President-elect Trump has spoken at our club and his picture is on our wall.
