DC Chinatown Celebrates the Year of the Rabbit
Sunday, January 22, 2023 2:00pm
WASHINGTON, DC – The streets of DC’s Chinatown will fill with revelers and spectators as the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) in partnership with the Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA) organize the annual Chinese Lunar New Year parade. This year marks 4721 in the Chinese Lunar Calendar and it is the Year of the Rabbit, representing charm, confidence, and bravery. Come early for a bite at one of the many local eateries and then grab a curb-side vantage point to witness the colorful pageantry to come. Take METRO to Gallery Place and avoid the driving and parking hassle.
An astounding array of parade groups will banter through the streets of Chinatown ushering in the Chinese New Year. Traditional lions and dragons come to life and the sounds of drums will fill the streets. The parade lineup continues to showcase the community’s vibrancy, diversity, and inclusion.
The CCBA is an umbrella organization representing thirty Chinese American organizations throughout the Greater DC Metro area. CCBA works closely with the government and local groups to provide services and educational programs. CCBA’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for members of the community, to promote and share an understanding of Chinese culture, and to nurture the bonds between Chinatown and our many friends and organizations in the DMV.
