REV MSGR SALVATORE CRISCUOLO TO LEAD WASHINGTON’S SAINT PATRICK’S PARADE
Washington, D.C. (March 9, 2014) – The 43rd annual St. Patrick’s Parade of Washington, D.C., is scheduled for Sunday, March 16, 2014, starting at 12:00 p.m. and concluding at 2:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Selfless Service.” The parade route is easily accessible via the Smithsonian, Federal Triangle or Archives-Navy Memorial metro stops and will run along Constitution Avenue NW, from 7th to 17th Streets. The parade will feature traditional pipe bands, Irish dancers, military processions, marching bands, ornate floats, and more.
The Parade Committee is proud to announce that Reverend Monsignor Salvatore A. Criscuolo,
has been selected as Grand Marshal for the 2014 parade. Since his ordination in 1978 Monsignor Sal, as he warmly known in the community, has dedicated his life to supporting first responders. As Chaplin for police and firefighters in DC he has spent 28 years supporting these brave men and women. He has officiated at weddings for their children, and at the funerals for those who have given their lives in the line of duty. In recognition of his selfless service, he was named a prelate of honor by Pope John Paul II, with the title of monsignor.
The Gael of the Year, selected for her outstanding service to the Irish community, is Cecilia Farley. Cecelia has been an active member of the D.C. Irish American Community since her immigration from Ireland in 1962. She has served as the President of the Irish American Club, and Chairman of the D.C. St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, and is active in several other Irish organizations. Her dedicated service has earned her recognition as the unofficial Irish ambassador of good will for the D.C. area.
The 2014 Division Marshals are Megan Molloy, Co-Chair of the American Ireland Fund’s
Washington, DC Young Leaders; Kristin Leary, Co-Founder and U.S. Director of the Frederick
