Hello everyone!
I will be competing for the state title of Miss District of Columbia United States 2014 on May 30th – June 1st! I am the 2014 Ms. Northern Virginia United States 2014 and I hope to receive a bigger crown by winning Miss DC!
I humbly ask for your help with expensive pageant costs. With the money raised, I will represent women and minorities and bring light to important social issues in our community. Any amount is truly appreciated and your generosity will not go unnoticed.
I can’t thank you enough for supporting me on this journey and I only hope to make you proud. You’ve been wonderful to me!
My Social Platform:
I am honored to be a proud American and Asian community member in the wonderful Miss United States pageant system. I am working hard for the Miss DC title to bring light to important issues regarding leadership and success, particularly among women and minority groups. Nothing is more important to me than empowering others with the right resources and knowledge and in turn, improving individual, organizational, and community well-being. Through the Miss United States Organization, I hope to bring national attention to breaking the glass and bamboo ceiling (including all other ceilings!)
My Community Work:
1) Vice President of Policy & Programs for National Organization for Vietnamese American Leadership: I am honored to be part of the wonderful non-profit, NOVAL-DC since 2012. I am overseeing and planning the largest Vietnamese Heritage Festival on the mid-Atlantic Coast, VietFest 2014! It is a two day festival that brings together the community and showcases the Vietnamese culture! Lion dances, martial arts demonstration, traditional fashion shows, Miss VietFest Pageant, authentic Vietnamese food and much more will be present! VietFest 2013 was able to bring 12,000 attendees in our two day event! Through our event, we are able to provide scholarships, internships, leadership opportunities, networking, and opportunities to learn new skills! Please visit: www.vietfest.com for more information!
2) I started the Monthly NOVAL Empowerment Seminar Series that will always be free to all of the community. We hold useful seminars to help people become more self-sufficient and knowledgeable so they may achieve their personal and professional goals. Some topics include: continuing education, Entering the Workforce, How to invest, and Tax Preparation.
3) I am the Director of the Miss VietFest 2013 and 2014 Scholarship Pageant. I designed the pageant program to be a great learning experience for all participants, with the phrases of “Preserving Culture and Promoting Leadership.” All participants become involved in culture research and attend workshops on walking with grace and speaking with power and confidence. Please visit: www.vietfest.com/pageant for more information.
4) I am a board member for the Annual Children of Vietnam Charity Date Auction. Through the event, we have consistently raised $11,000 each year to buy much needed essentials to give to struggling orphanages in VietNam. Please visit www.ChildrenVietnam.org for more information.
