Special Advisor for Children’s Issues Travels to Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Republic of Korea

Special Advisor for Children’s Issues, Ambassador Susan Jacobs, will visit Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Republic of Korea from October 7-16.
In Cambodia, Special Advisor Jacobs will meet with government officials to discuss the Hague Adoption Convention and ways to strengthen inter-country adoption processes. She also will meet with non-governmental organizations and other experts to discuss the progress of USAID-supported care reform efforts in Cambodia, including the new Family Care First Initiative. This initiative with the Cambodian government seeks to find solutions for Cambodian children living outside of family care.
Special Advisor Jacobs then will visit Vietnam to discuss our partnership under the Hague Adoption Convention, including the Special Adoption Program that went into effect in Vietnam on September 16, 2014. She also will discuss becoming a party to the Hague Abduction Convention.
Ambassador Jacobs will complete her trip in the Republic of Korea. She will deliver remarks at Holt Children’s Services of Korea’s 60th Anniversary and International Conference. She also will meet with government officials and non-governmental organizations to discuss current and future collaboration on inter-country adoption and the implementation of the Hague Abduction Convention.
