Uchenna Ikonne. Dj from Nigeria based in Boston. Voodoo Funk’s right arm, a digger who needs no introduction, he released the compilation ” Brand New Wayo ” a year ago on the Comb & Razor label. Selective resurrection of disco bass , funky guitars, rhythmic boogie, and joyful melodies covering a blessed age of Nigeria from the period from 1979 to 1983. Lagos is then in a happy effervescence in the return of democracy. Uckenna Ikonne is also the behind compilations on Soundway Records( Various – The World Ends: Afro Rock & Psychedelia In 1970s Nigeria Part 1), Luaka Bop ( William Onyeabor – Who Is William Onyeabor?), and Academy LPs

Uchenna Ikonne, Sol Power All-Stars, and Sir Ramases will be playing dusty LPs and 45s throughout the night. Music from all over the world Africa, Latin America, India, Caribbean, Brazil, and the Sahel Magreb Arab world.
Sol Power All-Stars spent years immersed in the Washington DC dance music, nightlife and live music scenes, making names for themselves in every niche from underground hip-hop to reggae to electronica. It was only a matter of time before their paths crossed often enough to consider teaming up to do something together. The DJ trio was fortunate enough to connect with percussionist Hermon Farahi, the funk weapon that completed the Sol Power experience.
A mutual love for the sounds of the African diaspora was the spark for the crew coming together. The Sol Power selection arsenal draws from samba, salsa, afrobeat and other deeply rooted genres as well as their modern electronic cousins like azonto and moombahton. Whether it’s a classic Dominican merengue or a driving afro-latin deep house track Sol Power has done it.

Sir-Ramases Kofi is the founder of the non-profit Afro Ritmo Records Research Collective which archives, collects, releases, and spreads awareness about the world’s rarest music on the vinyl format. With six members in total each hailing from their distinct tropical homelands, this group scours the earth looking for lost and forgotten musical treasures. Afro Ritmo’s first release: “The Return of Cyril Diaz: Trinidad Dance Band Series Vol.1”, showcases the bandleader recording his interpretation of the 1950’s Venezuelan sound.

About Vintage Vinyl Ritmos Raros
Ritmos Raros is a moving but never ending nostalgic tropical vinyl dancefloor party dedicated to the rare and normally unheard rhythms of Africa, Latin America, India, Caribbean, Brazilian, and the Arab variety. Touching upon the many genres we get together and try our very best to dance to different rhythms of each other culture. We are looking for members who love dancing and learning about obscure music that may have not achieved popularity to due to a myriad of adverse circumstances. Join us if your interested in being exposed to sounds you might not hear otherwise outside of the countries of origin. Expect the unexpected: Hybrid transactions, unlikely collaborations / combinations, moods in a minor key, blood, sweat, and tears all wrapped up in its aural form strictly for your educational and spiritual enrichment.
Vintage Vinyl / Ritmos Raros is the official party of Afro Ritmo Records.
