On Tuesday, May 17th, in preparation for the big Feeding the 5000 Washington D.C. event on May 18, a group of dedicated volunteers (40 max) will groove to music while peeling and chopping rescued vegetables to be served at the main festival. Hosted by the Washington D.C. outlet of The Campus Kitchens Project, The D.C. Disco Chop will take place from 9:00am – 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016 at St. Luke’s Mission in the Fellowship Hall (3655 Calvert St NW, Washington, DC 20007).
Want to be a part of this special crew? Please register your interest via the D.C. volunteer form or spread the word by inviting those in the know in D.C. via the Facebook event page.
Feeding the 5000 DC partners include: The Rockefeller Foundation, DC Central Kitchen, The Campus Kitchens Project, EPA, USDA, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), DC Department of Energy & Environment, DC Food Policy Council, DC Department of Public Works, DC Food Recovery Working Group, DC Greens, The Accokeek Foundation, Dreaming Out Loud, NRDC, National Consumers League, ReFED, Together We Bake/Fruitcycle, Means Database, Community Food Rescue, Food Recovery Network, and Capital Area Food Bank.
There will also be further Feeding the 5000’s across the US as the food waste movement is catalysed in 2016 and beyond – if you would like to learn more about how to organise your own event, please get in contact with pascale@feedbackglobal.org.
Furthermore, get really stuck-in! Bring your specific skills to the food waste revolution, and join the CORE team. Feedback is teaming up with leading food waste fighting organizations and institutions to kick off a mass movement against food waste in the U.S. and promote the delicious solutions that exist. As such, we’re looking for social media superstars, extraordinary volunteer managers, logistics geniuses, photographers, sous chefs, drivers, artists and anyone who is keen to get more involved. Please contact volunteers@feedbackglobal.org with any ideas and suggestions!
