Update MPD Officer Involved Shooting: 300 Block of H Street, Northeast

Chief of Police Cathy Lanier and Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a police-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, May 29, 2016, in an establishment in the 300 block of H Street, Northeast.
At approximately 6:29 am, an off-duty officer working at the incident location observed an adult male carrying objects from the listed location in a bag. The officer attempted to stop the individual for shoplifting, when the suspect produced a firearm. The officer discharged his weapon, striking the suspect multiple times. The suspect was transported to an area hospital and is in critical condition.
On Sunday, May 29, 2016, 47-year old Anhtuan Phu Pham, of no fixed address was arrested. He was charged with Assault on a Police Officer and Shoplifting.
The suspect’s weapon was recovered on the scene. Investigation revealed the weapon produced by the suspect was a replica. This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 202-727-9099.
