JOIN US FOR our all-volunteer, grassroots celebration of Adams Morgan’s eclectic history, culture, businesses, and residents at ADAMS MORGAN DAY 2016 on Sunday, September 11, from noon to 6 p.m.
Now in its 38th year, Adams Morgan Day is Washington’s longest running neighborhood festival. Like last year, Adams Morgan Day 2016 will be a family-friendly celebration with music, art and activities for all ages. We welcome residents and visitors alike to meet our neighborhood businesses, artists and service organizations.
We won’t be closing 18th Street. Most activities will take place along 18th Street NW and Columbia Road, inside businesses and on their permitted sidewalk spaces. Adams Morgan area playing fields and plazas at 18th and Columbia Road may be used for children’s activities, artists, live music, and non-profit outreach. Final locations will be listed on maps and on the website.
All participating businesses and organizations that notify the Adams Morgan Day planning committee of their plans for participation by August 15, 2016, will be included in the event plan. Be aware that we need to charge a modest fee of $50 this year to offset some of our costs. We are also looking for greater contributions and sponsorships in exchange for promotional support this year.
Adams Morgan Day will be what you and we make of it. By building it from the ground up, with a focus on our neighborhood’s unique character, we hope to establish a structure that will support Adams Morgan Days for years to come.
Will you join us? We need business involvement, volunteers, sponsors, and your ideas for participation.
