The Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) is holding its biggest and most diverse parade ever to ring in the 4716 Chinese Lunar New Year, the Year of the Dog!
Our dynamic community-based parade will include traditional lion and dragon dances, Kung Fu demonstrations, firecrackers, live music and marching bands, beauty pageant winners, VIPs, and other community talents!

DC Chinatown Celebrates the Year of the Dog Sunday

WASHINGTON, DC (October 1, 2017) – The Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) announces this coming year’s Chinese New Year’s celebration to be held on Sunday, February 18th, 2018 at 2:00pm on H Street in Chinatown, Washington DC. As host of the parade, CCBA is planning the biggest and most diverse parade ever. This year, 4716 in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, is the Year of the Dog, symbolizing loyalty, honesty, likability, kindness, caution and prudence.
To ring in the Year of the Dog, the CCBA has planned numerous events including: Pre-parade VIP Luncheon. Dynamic community-based parade with Lions & Dragons plus other traditional Chinese Dancers, marching bands, Kung Fu schools, Chinese & American beauty pageant winners, fortune-cookie tossers and the like. Recent entrants to the parade include Batala Washington, Girls Scouts of America, Almas Shriners, Natmobile & President Mascots and more. Well wishes from DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, Taipei Economic & Cultural Representative’s Office and other VIPs. Lions and Dragons will perform on stage…all followed by the everanticipated and exciting firecracker finale. Chinese New Year banquets cap off the evening’s celebration.
The CCBA is an umbrella organization representing thirty Chinese-American organizations throughout the Greater DC Metro area. CCBA works closely with the government and community in order to provide services and educational programs. CCBA’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for Chinese-Americans in the area, to promote understanding of Chinese culture, and to assist Chinese immigrants in adapting to America’s diverse culture.
