OnlineCollegePlan.com Ranks Online Nurse Practitioner Programs
DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — A Nurse Practitioner is a nurse that is trained to diagnose patients and create treatment plans without the direct supervision of a doctor. Nurse Practitioners go to school to learn how to care for those who are sick, instead of learning about medicine as a physician would. Nurses are the most in-demand position in the medical field today, which is partially what accounts for the hectic schedules that current nurses work. They are tasked with caring for patients, providing health education, and more. It’s hard to go back to school to become an NP, but access to online programs makes that easier. OnlineCollegePlan agreed, so they created a ranking titled the Top 20 Nurse Practitioner Schools Online. You can read it here:
The research editor created a list of all of the schools in the country that offer online or hybrid programs that lead to a Nurse Practitioner career. The majority of these degree programs are Masters of Science in Nursing with various concentrations that prepare students to sit for the credentialing exam. Once the list was created, the schools were scored according to their freshman retention and graduation rates. The top school, Duke University in Durham North Carolina had a final score of 192 out of a possible 200. Duke has eight concentrations, seven specialties, and several additional certification options to customize their academic path.
