Honor the Persian New Year at our annual Nowruz Family Day. Welcome spring with free attractions for all ages, including storytelling, hands-on activities, and more.
Activities will include:
Haftseen table displays
Interactive storytelling by Xanthe Gresham (limited capacity)
Dance performances by Nomad Dancers (limited capacity)
Musical performances by Constantinople (separate tickets needed)
Nowruz crafts and activities
Curator-led gallery tours
Persian food and sweets available for purchase from Kabob Bazaar, Kandu Pastry, and Rosewater DC
Featured exhibitions Journey of Color, Engaging the Senses, and Feast Your Eyes
*Free, separate tickets for the musical performances will be given out on site starting at 12:45 p.m. in front of the Meyer Auditorium*

About Nowruz:
Nowruz, the Persian word for “new day,” marks the vernal equinox and the first day of spring. Rooted in Zoroastrianism, the religion of Iran before the advent of Islam, Nowruz was celebrated in much of the ancient Near East as early as three thousand years ago. Today, people in many regions from West Asia and the Caucasus to Central Asia and South Asia participate in the thirteen days of Nowruz festivities with their own local variations.
