WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-46), Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Vietnam, Congressman Ed Royce (CA-39), House Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman, Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-19), Co-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on Vietnam and Congressman Alan Lowenthal (CA-47), House Committee on Foreign Affairs member, will hold a press conference tomorrow, Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013 at 9:15a.m. at the House Triangle.
Sanchez, Royce, Lofgren and Lowenthal will be joined by other members of Congress, representatives of various human rights organizations and Vietnamese American community leaders to address the worsening crackdown on human rights in Vietnam and what the United States government can do to support the Vietnamese people.
The press conference comes before the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Truong Tan Sang, visits the White House on Thursday.
Sanchez, Royce, Lofgren and Lowenthal will argue that while the meeting between the two presidents will highlight trade, human rights issues must be made a priority for a continuing successful bilateral relationship.
