DCBOE to Select Precincts and Contests for Post-Election Audit on November 9
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The District of Columbia Board of Elections today announced that the selection of precincts and contests for unofficial results to be audited from the November 8, 2016 General Election will take place on Wednesday, November 9, at 12pm.
The Board completes an audit before certifying the outcome of each general election.
Unofficial results to be audited will include ballots cast on Election Day as well as absentee and special ballots.
The random selection of precincts and contests will be conducted by drawing slips of paper from a clear container. At least one precinct from each ward and at least one District-wide as well as two ward-wide contests are required to be selected at random.
Board staff will also select one additional contest for audit.
The precinct and contest selection is open to the public and will be held in the Board’s
hearing room at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street N.W., Room 280 North.
The District of Columbia Board of Elections is an independent agency of the District government responsible for the administration of elections, ballot access, and voter registration.
