If you ever wanted to experience what it’s like to sail across the Atlantic in a real Viking ship, don’t wait another 1,000 years. Make your way to Transit Pier to tour the ship, hear the crew’s stories, and take pics to share in the adventure. The ship arrives today at 1pm.
The Draken Experience : Washington, DC, October 5 – 15
The Draken Village pops-up in Washington, DC at Transit Pier at The Wharf from Friday, October 5 to Monday, October 15! Climb aboard the world’s largest operating Viking ship, Draken Harald Hårfagre and discover your #VikingSpirit with inspiring ship tours, engaging crew demonstrations, and insta-worthy moments.
Hosted in partnership with Wharf DC and with a number of free cultural events hosted by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Washington and the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce, Mid Atlantic Chapter, Inc, the Draken will dock at The Wharf’s Transit Pier and will offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for visitors to relive history in a way never experienced before. Draken will allow guests to marvel at this stunning Viking ship and interact with the crew as they share their personal experiences of thrill, fear, and exhilaration while enduring the ship’s 2016 transatlantic crossing – reliving the Viking discovery of the New World more than 1,000 years ago.
ARRIVAL CEREMONY
Welcome the Draken ship as it sails into port with a display of Viking valor and excitement. Captain Björn Ahlander and his crew will step ashore to greet the crowd and introduce the Draken. This event is free and open to the public.

DRAKEN EXHIBITION
Visit the Draken Village and enjoy the immersive photo and video exhibition illustrating Viking history, modern explorers, and the adventures of the Draken. The exhibition and Village are free and open to the public.

Every day 10:00 am – 8:00 pm (exept for arrival day 4:00pm-6:00pm)
SCREENING
Be among the first audiences to enjoy an outdoor screening of the newly released Draken documentary: Expedition America – a Modern Viking Adventure. Following the film, members of the crew will be on hand for a Q&A session.
