CELEBRATE THE ASIAN AMERICAN & PACIFIC ISLANDER
MEMBERS OF THE 116TH CONGRESS
WASHINGTON, DC. – Join Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote
(APIAVote) and a coalition of over 30 community organizers and leaders on
Tuesday, January 15th as we host a celebration for the Asian American and
Pacific Islander members of the 116th congress. The event was started in
2015, and APIAVote continues the tradition by spearheading the third
celebration along with our partners and sponsors.
With a record-breaking total of 20 AAPI members of Congress, the 116th
Congress is the most diverse congress in history. The diversity within the
members is significant, with sitting members of Native Hawaiian, Pacific
Islander, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and East Asian descent in both
chambers of Congress. The event aims to not only celebrate our members of
Congress, but to also celebrate the increased turnout and engagement of the
AAPI community during the 2018 elections.
WHO: The event will be Emceed by Richard Lui of MSNBC. Confirmed

More confirmations are pending. The majority of the AAPI Congressional
members, additional CAPAC members, and over 500 community leaders
are expected to attend.
