Mayor to Celebrate 40th Anniversary of SYEP, Connecting Generations of Washingtonians to Enriching and Constructive Summer Work Experiences
(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, January 17, at 11 am, Mayor Bowser will kick off the application period for youth and employers who want to participate in the 2019 Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP). District youth ages 14 to 24 and employers interested in hosting youth may apply online for MBSYEP 2019 at www.summerjobs.dc.gov beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17. The program will provide six weeks of meaningful employment and work-readiness training. MBSYEP 2019 will begin on Monday, June 24, 2019 and will end on Friday, August 2, 2019.
MBSYEP strives to provide District youth with the opportunity to:
Earn money and gain meaningful work experience;
Learn and develop the skills, attitudes, and commitment necessary to succeed in today’s workforce.
Gain exposure to various exciting career industries; and
Interact with dynamic working professionals in a positive work environment.
